Computer Parts

Computer Parts

A computer is basically a machine that performs operations and calculations. In fact, it is a very complex calculator. Today, computers can be called PCs or Macs - although, competition aside, they are the same thing at their core: let's take a moment to remember that PC simply means Personal Computer. A computer meant for private users.

That user can make it perform complex operations and interact with it using various hardware and software. It first appeared in the early 1980s when IBM launched its first PC/XT.

Unlike other "microcomputers" of the time, this computer was made of standard components that were easy to duplicate. Today, PCs (whether from Apple or other companies like Asus or Dell) are still the most commonly used type of computer today. There are many other types of computers, of course - for example, computers built into cars or computers that power industrial or metro robots.

Computer Components

Whether it's a tower PC, a desktop unit, or a laptop, all computers have the same components:

  • Screen or monitor
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse or touchpad/trackball for laptop
  • CPU - the heart and mind of a computer

Computer Monitor

 Computer Parts - Monitor

The monitor is a screen for interaction between the device and the user.

The monitor is the part of the computer that displays data. It is part of the human-machine interface. Thanks to the computer screen, the user can interact with the computer. Typing on the keyboard or using the mouse changes the data as it is displayed. Monitors can vary greatly in size. The numbers - usually given in inches - designate the diagonal of the screen.

There are laptop screens that are very compact: 10 inches for the smallest laptops and netbooks. Office computers are about 15 inches wide and can go up to 27 inches or more, especially if you decide to connect your computer to a TV screen. Resolutions and prices also vary. For example, a 24-inch screen typically has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, or high definition. The display can be mounted using a VGA, DVI, or HDMI connection.

You should look around the $1 million price tag for a decent computer monitor. Do you think the monitor is a real PC? You may want to invest in an IT course - our Superprof tutors want to help you become computer literate.

Keyboard

Computer Parts - Keyboard

One of the external hardware components of a computer. This tool allows you to write text and communicate with a computer. A typical keyboard has about a hundred keys: the letters of the alphabet, numbers, punctuation, and special functions. On the one hand, it is a descendant of the typewriter.

There are several types of keyboards: wireless or not, with touchpad or without touchpad, gaming keyboard, dedicated keyboard with keys, and other additional functions.

Computer Mouse

Computer Parts - Mouse

The mouse is what lets you move the cursor (that little arrow) on the monitor. This enables you to position it over a specific element and select it by clicking the left button ("left click") or access specific functions by clicking the right ("right click). Most have a small wheel in the middle that lets you scroll up and down. in text documents and websites (some have a touchpad in the middle instead).

The mouse has a motion sensor on the bottom. Now it's usually optical or laser-based, but some parents may remember it with a ball. You can buy a plug-in mouse that connects to your computer with a wire and a wireless mouse you just need to plug a few components into the USB port and make sure it charges or replace the battery from time to time.

A mousepad can help keep track of your mouse properly if your desk surface is a bit rough or unusual. Laptops and netbooks may not need a mouse: they often have a trackball or touchpad just below the keyboard that fulfills that role.

Computer System: Definition and its 3 Components

With current technological advances, developers are increasingly aggressively developing computers further, both in terms of function and form. After knowing what a computer is, then how is the computer system that runs it? What's that? And what are the components?

We'll help you find more here.

A computer system is a collection of computing devices that are interconnected (integrated) and interact with each other to perform data processing to produce information that is expected by its users.

The following three parts of a computer system that cannot be separated are hardware, software, and brainware. The three devices have their respective functions in the computer system and when carrying out their duties, the three support each other. For example, hardware cannot interact with brainwaves without software. From this, we can see that one component is related to another. Here we explain further, three important components of a computer system, which consists of hardware, software, and Brainware, except malware.

Hardware (Hardware)

Hardware in a computer system is an electronic device that is on a computer, its form is visible and can be touched physically. It can be said, the part of a computer component that contains commands or instructions is also called hardware.

The hardware in a computer system consists of 4 main parts, including:

  • Input Device / Input Device: serves as a tool to enter various data and commands on the computer, such as keyboard, mouse, webcam, and scanner.
  • Processing Device / Process Device: serves to process various data originating from the input device, namely the CPU (Central Processing Unit).
  • Output Device / Output Device: serves to provide or output the results of data that has been entered and processed in the computer, such as monitors, printers, speakers, etc.
  • Storage Device / Storage Device: serves to store various data, such as hard disk and RAM.

Software (Software)

Software/software is a collection of electronic data that is stored and managed by a computer, the stored data can be in the form of a program that is useful for executing an order. In contrast to hardware, the components of this one computer system cannot be physically touched. Computer system software is further divided into three, namely system software (for example Windows XP, Windows 2000), application software (for example web, browser, game), and additional software (for example screensaver, data recovery, backup).

Brainware

The components in a computer system that act as users are called brainwaves. Brainware is a person who uses or operates a computer device or can also be said as an intellectual device that uses and explores the capabilities of both hardware and software. Brainware also plays an important role in the components of a computer system, because a complete computer device is useless if it is not run. Examples of brainwave itself are, programmers, systems analysts, operators, and administrators.
